IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation

Description:

A hand held devise that emits pulses of light to the skin to treat areas of hyperpigmentation and red areas caused by broken blood vessels.  It is also used to improve skin tone and texture.  As well as with laser this too with a mild wound response produces some collagen and cell turnover.

Effectiveness:

Good for blemishes and discoloration.

Undesired Effects:

Possible swelling, redness, mild pain for 3-5 days.  Some blistering, bruising, or flaking may occur.

Permanent scarring although rare, may occur.

Comments:

Mainly used as a color treatment for skin disorders, including redness, sun damage, and spotting.  Effectiveness for wrinkle reduction is low.
