Botox®

Description:

Botulinum toxin, is often referred to by its product name Botox®.   It is derived from the poison manufactured from the bacterium, Clostridium (one form of Clostridium infection is Botulism).  Injections of this toxin blocks the nerve impulses paralyzing the muscles temporarily that cause wrinkles, giving the skin a more refreshed smoother look.

Excellent, results within a few hours to several days.

3-4 months

Negative Results:

Stinging/Burning during injection at site, stiff plastic synthetic look in some people; short term eye-lid droop; bruising and headaches sometimes occur as well.

Harmful Side Effects:

Rare but sometimes systemic issues (respiratory arrest, etc.).  Long- term effects are still not known but doses given to humans are fatal to rats in lab studies.  Pregnant women should not get Botox® as it may be fatal to the fetus.
